FAQ
Why does a page show no extractable text?
A PDF page only has extractable text if it actually contains a text layer. A page that is really a scanned image (a photo or a scan saved as a PDF) has no text layer at all — this tool tells you which pages have none, and points you to the PDF OCR tool for those.
Is reading order always perfect?
PDF.js extracts text in the order the PDF itself stores it, which is usually the visual reading order but can occasionally differ for complex multi-column layouts, tables, or PDFs generated by unusual software.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Text extraction happens entirely inside your browser tab using PDF.js. Nothing about the file or its content is sent to any server.
What's the difference between the two download options?
Both produce the same text; "Download UTF-8 TXT" explicitly writes a UTF-8 byte-order mark and encoding so text with non-Latin characters (accents, Urdu, Arabic, CJK, etc.) opens correctly in every text editor.
