Cheque Amount Interpreter

Enter an amount in digits and see it in the Pakistani/Indian and international number systems, spelled out in words in both, and written as a cheque line. This is an interpretation utility — not a payment service, and it never converts currencies.

Digits only, either comma style; up to two decimal places for a fractional amount.

What this tool does

Enter an amount in digits and it shows that same amount formatted in the South Asian and international number systems, spelled out in words in both systems, and written as a cheque line such as “Rupees Twenty-Five Lakh Only”. It is an interpretation and formatting utility — it is not a payment service and does not issue or validate cheques.

Verify cheque wording and bank requirements before using it on a financial document.

Currency

The currency selector changes only the words and the label (Rupees / Dollars / Pounds / Euros and the fractional unit — paisa, cents, pence). No exchange rate is applied and none is fetched: the numeric value is identical whichever currency you pick. PKR and INR are spelled in the South Asian system (lakh, crore); USD, GBP, and EUR in the international system (thousand, million).

How to use it

  1. Type the amount — 2500000, 25,00,000, or 2,500,000 all work; commas are ignored.
  2. Add up to two decimal places for a fractional amount (1250000.50) — this becomes paisa / cents in the wording.
  3. Pick a currency if it is not PKR.
  4. Copy any single line, or use Copy all. Negative amounts are rejected for cheque use.

Examples

  • 1,000 → One thousand · “Rupees One Thousand Only”
  • 1,25,000 → One lakh twenty-five thousand
  • 10,00,000 → Ten lakh / One million
  • 25,00,000 → Twenty-five lakh / Two million five hundred thousand · “Rupees Twenty-Five Lakh Only”
  • 1,25,00,000 → One crore twenty-five lakh
  • 1250000.50 → “Rupees Twelve Lakh Fifty Thousand and Fifty Paisa Only”

FAQ

Is the generated wording legally required?

No. It is a helpful draft in a common style. Banks differ in what they accept on the “amount in words” line, so check your bank’s requirements before writing a cheque.

How are paisa / cents handled?

The fractional part is limited to two digits. A non-zero fraction is added to the wording as “… and Fifty Paisa Only” (or cents / pence for USD / GBP / EUR). A zero fraction is omitted.

Does it round large amounts?

No. The integer part uses BigInt and the fraction is handled as text, so amounts are not rounded and do not lose precision. Amounts beyond the international word list fall back to figures with a note.

Can I paste an amount that already has commas?

Yes. Both 25,00,000 (South Asian) and 2,500,000 (international) are accepted; commas are stripped before parsing.
