Page Size Checker

Enter a URL or paste a page's HTML source to see its exact HTML size plus a breakdown of the images, scripts, and stylesheets it references — with a clear, honest label on any resource whose actual transfer size couldn't be measured.

Most third-party sites block this kind of direct cross-origin request. If fetching fails, switch to "Paste source instead".

About this tool

Reports a page's exact HTML size plus its referenced images, scripts, and stylesheets — with an honest "unavailable" label on any resource whose transfer size a browser cannot measure.

How to use it

  1. Enter a page URL and click Fetch & Analyze, or paste the page's HTML source.
  2. Optionally click "Try to measure resource sizes" — this only succeeds for resources the browser is allowed to read cross-origin.
  3. Review the breakdown by resource type.

FAQ

Why can't every resource's size be measured?

Reading a resource's exact transfer size from a browser generally requires either loading it from the same origin or the server explicitly allowing cross-origin access. Most third-party images, scripts, and stylesheets don't allow this, so this tool marks those sizes as unavailable rather than guessing.

What is the difference between resource size and transfer size?

Resource size is the size of the file itself; transfer size is what was actually sent over the network for that request, which can be smaller if the server compressed it (gzip/Brotli) or the browser had it cached. This tool reports transfer size (via a resource's Content-Length header) when it can measure one at all.

Is the HTML size shown here always exact?

Yes — the HTML size is the exact byte length of the page source this tool actually analyzed (either fetched directly or pasted), measured the same way regardless of where it came from.

Does a small page size guarantee a fast page?

No — total transfer size is one factor among many (server response time, render-blocking resources, third-party scripts, connection quality). Use a dedicated performance tool alongside this one for a fuller picture.

Why does this tool count resources instead of just reporting one big total?

A breakdown by type (HTML, images, scripts, stylesheets) is more actionable than a single number — it points to which category is actually worth optimizing first.
