Password Generator
Strong, random passwords, created in your browser.
Pick a length and the character types you want, then generate a secure password from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator. Use the strength meter to see how much entropy it has.
Passwords are generated on this page. Nothing you generate is sent to a server, saved, or logged.
About this password generator
This is a free, secure password generator that creates strong, random passwords for your accounts. Choose a length, pick which character types to include — uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols — and optionally drop look-alike characters like O, 0, l and 1. Every password is built from your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not a predictable function like Math.random().
Passwords are created on this page, in your browser. They are not sent to a server, written to a log, or saved by the tool, and no server is contacted to produce them.
How to create a strong password
- Use as much length as the site allows — length matters more than any single character rule.
- Keep all four character types on unless a site rejects symbols.
- Generate a fresh password for every account; never reuse one.
- Store it in a password manager rather than trying to remember it.
- Copy it straight into the sign-up or change-password form, then clear it here.
What “entropy” means here
The strength meter shows the password’s entropy in bits: roughly, how many yes/no questions an attacker would need to guess it. It is length × log2(pool size) — a 16-character password drawn from a 90-character pool is about 104 bits. More bits means an offline brute-force attack takes exponentially longer. The “time to crack” figure is a deliberately rough order of magnitude, not a promise about any specific attacker.
FAQ
Is this a secure and truly random password generator?
Yes. Randomness comes from the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), the same CSPRNG browsers use for cryptographic keys, and the tool uses rejection sampling so every character in the pool is equally likely. Math.random() is never used.
Are the generated passwords sent anywhere or stored?
No. Generation happens in your browser tab. Nothing you generate is transmitted, and the tool does not keep a password after it is shown — reloading the page discards it. Analytics records only that a password was generated, never the value.
How long should my password be?
16 characters is a sensible minimum for an account that matters; 20 or more is better for a primary email or password-manager master password. This generator supports up to 128 characters.
What does “exclude look-alike characters” do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse when read or typed by hand, such as capital O and zero, or lowercase L and the digit one. It makes a password slightly easier to transcribe at a small cost to the character pool. Leave it off when the password only ever gets copied and pasted.
Can I generate several passwords at once?
Yes. Turn on “Generate several passwords at once” and set a count (up to 100). You can copy the whole list or any single entry.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. Generating, copying, and the strength meter all work with no network connection.

- Why Strong Passwords Matter, and How to Create One in Seconds
Most stolen accounts are not hacked by geniuses. They are opened with passwords that were short, predictable, or reused. Here is how attackers actually guess passwords, what makes one strong, and how to create a strong one in seconds.
